About the Author

Sierra Leone Dixon

Mrs. Dixon was born in Washington, DC. She is a graduate of Bennett College and received her Masters from Strayer University in Educational Administration. She also received 36 graduate hours in Reading from Howard University and was awarded a Paralegal Certificate from George Washington University.

Mrs. Dixon published her first book with two other colleagues; entitled Black Man I Choose You. Her second book was published in 2021 and she appears as a solo artist. Mrs. Dixon has been writing poetry most of her life and has had various poems appear in anthologies and various school related newspapers, yearbooks and magazines.

Mrs. Dixon is the third of three children. She had an older brother and has an older sister who resides in Tampa, Florida. Mrs. Dixon now resides in Prince George’s County, Maryland. She is not a fan of cold weather and still wishes to this day that she could celebrate her birthday at a nearby beach. But being born in January, she is lucky to see the sun on her birthday. She also enjoys reading books, playing the piano and riding her bike.

This is year 15 for working in Prince George’s County Public Schools. She also taught high school and middle school in Washington, DC and Florida.

She is the proud mother of two adult children; Tifanne Elizabeth Lawrence and Leander Chantelle Daniel. She is also the proud Godmother of Tia Nacole Cunningham. She has six wonderful grandchildren in all; who live in Maryland and Mississippi.

Mrs. Dixon enjoys eating at local restaurants and watching TV; with her favorite drink on the side. She also enjoys riding her bicycle, playing the piano, reading and sharing her poetry with others. To date, she is the author of two collections of poetry.
